I've finished my Maluka Shawl - a nice quick knit.
I loved the yarn, Sublime cashmere merino silk DK. It's lovely and soft and gives excellent stitch definition. You can read the details of the project on my Ravelry page, here.
The pattern was easy to follow and I loved the construction technique - edging first then the body using short rows.
Unfortunately I'm disappointed with the final product. It's far too small to be called a shawl, and that's after I moved up to a heavier yarn weight and larger needles. I should have read other people's project notes on Ravelry on this one - I'm far too impatient and ready to dive in without a thought!
It's more of a scarf than a shawl, which is lovely given the cosy feel of the yarn but not what I had set out to make.
It's not the shawl I dreamt it would be, but I'm sure I'll wear it a lot come the colder weather and I'll forgive it in time!
It looks beautiful, I love the colour. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteWell, it might not have turned out like you thought but it is absolutely gorgeous. I wear my scarf ( should have been a shawl) with the pointy bit at the front, andhave had some nice comments.I was just lazy though and could not be bothered with all the stitches on my needle. It was 4ply though.
ReplyDeleteHi Janet, your shawl, now scarf is gorgeous and it will have many more comments out and about as a scarf-too lovely not to be shown on your travels.
ReplyDeleteHoping at some point to obtain the skill to produce something even near as intricate-umm slow learning but determined to get there.
Enjoy your weekend.

Lovely scarf/shawl!! Sweet color :) I can understand your disappointment but it is looking very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLove the color and the brooch :)
ReplyDeleteI am looking really hard at shawl patterns, as I want to knit one for my mum as a present. Yours looks really cute, and I can't believe how quick you must be as a knitter.
ReplyDeleteOh, bummer! It's disappointing that it's not what you hoped, but it's still a beautiful project! Well done. =)
