Thank you all so much for the lovely messages and comments for Eve's birthday. It was wonderful to receive such kind and generous thoughts. I would love to say that Eve had a wonderful time in Barcelona over the weekend, I'm fairly certain she did, but I haven't had a chance to talk to her yet because, due to the French air traffic controllers strike, she is still in Barcelona! She was sat on the plane ready to take off for her flight back to London yesterday when everyone was asked to get off the plane because the flight had been cancelled! She's had to buy a new ticket home on a British Airways plane today and there's still a possibility that the flight could again be cancelled. Hopefully she will get home eventually.
In comparison, my weekend was trouble-free as far as travelling goes, but possibly not as glamorous as Barcelona. My husband and I spent the weekend in Sheffield with Grace. It's always wonderful to spend time with Grace, we spend all our time knitting and talking about knitting!
This weekend was particularly exciting because we had tickets to see my favourite ballet, Swan Lake.
I must have seen this ballet at least eight or nine times, but I never tire of it.
The Sheffield Lyceum is a beautifully ornate theatre.
The ballet was a delight with gorgeous costumes and an interesting modern interpretation of the story. The following pictures were taken from the Swan Lake Gallery on the Northern Ballet website.
So now I'm back safely home (which is more than we can say for Eve!) and I'm ready to enjoy another creative week. I hope you all had a good weekend and that your week is filled with creative fun. Bye for now.
How wonderful to have a weekend away and enjoy the ballet, always wonderful to spend quality time with family. Heres hoping your other daughter gets safely home today.
ReplyDeleteThank you Lorraine. Eve is currently sitting in a plane, but whether it's going to take off or not - we can only keep our fingers crossed.

DeleteSounds like a lovely weekend Janet I have never been to a ballet it looks great. I hope Eve manages to get home soon. :) xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda. I love the ballet, especially Swan Lake.
DeleteI'm glad you had a good weekend but poor Eve, how frustrating. I hope she manages to return home soon xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Jo. Hopefully Eve will get home soon but I think she's worried about running out of money and missing work.
DeleteHope your daughter is well on her way home by now. How wonderful to spend time with Grace, knitting, chatting, knitting and viewing the beautiful Swan Lake.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Meredith
Thank you Meredith, it was a perfect weekend.
DeleteHow frustrating. I hope she is home soon. Things like that can undo the relaxing break.
ReplyDeleteI think I might be slightly clothes obsessed, as my reaction to the photos is, what beautiful costumes.
I agree with you. I think the costumes make all the difference. For this production they were simple but very pretty.
DeleteGlad that you all had good weekends! I hope that Eve will be home soon and that the airline will help her out. xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Amy. Eve finally made it back late last night (Monday) so she only missed one day of work. We will now have to battle it out with the airline and the insurers see if she can get any compensation.
DeleteWhat a beautiful theatre. I can imagen that you enjoyed Swan Lake here
ReplyDeleteThank you Ingrid, the theatre was beautifully decorated. A lovely theatre to visit.
