Christmas is coming - whether I'm ready or not. I've been playing my Christmas music to get me in the mood and I've got the decorations out from storage - just need to get them out of the boxes and actually up now.
I have made a new decoration for Christmas this year.
A crochet Christmas Tree. It's quite big - about 12 inches tall and the plan is to use it as a centre piece for the table.
I'll maybe decorate it with beads or some fancy yarn.
I had hoped to be able to write up the pattern but I'm that short of time, I don't think it's going to happen this year. If I start in the New Year I may be ready for next Christmas!
I'm nearing the end on a few projects, which is so encouraging. I need to get these done to feel like I'm moving forward.
In terms of projects actually finished, I had 3 grammes of sock yarn leftover from previous projects and I can't bear the thought of just throwing it out, so I made a miniature shawl - modelled here for us by one of my plastic polar bears.
So, it's probably cheating to count this as a finished object - but at the moment, getting anything finished seems to be a challenge.
I'm in decorating mode at the moment. Having finished the hall and stairs, I set to work on the bathroom. It's gone from lime green to pink - and looking good. I've got to fit the carpet tomorrow - and then it'll be done. I've got my eye on Eve's bedroom next ! - no wonder I'm not getting any Christmas stuff done.
And finally, on my morning walk, look who I spotted, watching me walk by.
I stopped and chatted before continuing on my way.
I loved the tree, what a great centre piece. Looking forward to seeing how you decorate it. The polar bears shawl made me smile, great finish!
ReplyDeleteThank you Lorraine.
DeleteI like your Christmas tree and hope that you do write the pattern for next year. Its very cute. Does that gorgeous Owl live with you? That's really cool if he/she does. I love the owl house. xox
ReplyDeleteI will definitely write up the pattern to share with everyone, as soon as I can find a breathing space! The owl lives in the park near our house, but he's welcome to call round and visit us at any time.
DeleteOOh Love LOVE LoVe your Christmas tree with all its wavy undulations!

Thank you Ali.
DeleteI love your tree! That is very clever! I would have claimed the little polar bear shawl as a finish too! xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Amy, yes the shawl will count as a finish - the polar bear is very happy with it.
DeleteJanet, is that your owl house? Love the shawl. I don't crochet or knit or anything -- any sort of needlework makes me go cross-eyed and crabby in no time at all! :D
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately Jean, it isn't my owl house, I wish it was, it is truly splendid. I'd love to have an owl resident in my garden.
DeleteI love OWLS!!! They are os mysterious and beautiful. Good luck with all the decorating Janet, seems so much needs to be done this time of year.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Meredith
Thanks Meredith. I think I'm finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel - so may be I'm not as disorganised as I thought I was!
DeleteCute little shawl, I love your tree it will look lovely as a centerpiece on your table, the owl is amazing. :) xx
ReplyDeleteThe tree looks great. What a brilliant idea to make something like that as a centre piece. My mind is now in overdrive...
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful owl! Things like that really blow my mind when they happen to me, you were so lucky.
ReplyDeleteThe tree looks great, and I hope all of your bears get shawls now!
Thank you Cazzy. The other bears will be Jealous if they don't get shawls as well.
