My Patterns for Sale? - I Think Not

I've recently been notified that one of my FREE patterns is available for sale on another website!!!!

I love designing and making things and part of the pleasure in this is sharing the patterns with everyone and seeing the results of their work, especially on Ravelry.

I make no financial profit from my patterns so I don't think anyone else should exploit my time and effort by offering for sale what I give FREELY.

If you ever come across one of my patterns for sale on another site, please let me know.

On a happier note, here is a picture of Parky the Polar Bear.

Parky the Polar Bear
He was made by Linda Kennedy from my Arthur the Polar Bear pattern.  Great job Linda.

  1. I'm sorry that someone has stolen your work, since I know how much time and effort you put into it. It seems that nothing is sacred, not even a pattern. Since an idea is so personal and precious, it must be feel like quite a violation. Hopefully, the thief is punished or, at the very least, shamed into doing the work for herself next time instead of stealing. I hope that this does not make you reconsider your generosity in sharing with us. It is a joy for many of us to follow along with you and it is always a special surprise when you share your original patterns with us for free.

  2. How disappointing, someone making a profit from your designs, that you have chosen to make freely available. We just can't assume everyone has the same scruples can we? What a shame! Shrug it off I guess, keep calm and carry yarn! :) x

  6. As a fellow pattern-designer (though I'm a long way behind you) I really feel for you. I'm glad it's not put you off though. I often wonder if a copyright would be worthwhile. Some people have a creative commons licence. Maybe worth looking into. But I don't know if you could take any action against anyone. You could tell all your followers where the pattern is and we could boycott/comment/denounce.
